I googled "does airtable require internet access, and does it store your data in the cloud", and the answer seemed to be yes to both. In that case, I want to know how my data is encrypted (it probably isn't when resting, but perhaps it is while in transit) and whether anyone at airtable's HQ can see my data without encryption (most likely they can.) I am not eager to use any software, no matter how good, with little or no privacy. For some people, privacy isn't important, and that's okay for them. But I want my data secure and private, and I want to know exactly what data about me is being sent back to corporate HQ and how my data is being shared with third parties. If this software was available on the Apple Store, they would have to provide a detailed Privacy Statement, but it's not there, so I have no idea what data they are taking from me.

Hi Dan. I need a place to log residual payments from acting. So -a place to log project names, fees, dates, commission payments, etc. I’m not a tech person though. Do you think Airtable is for me?

Compared to password-less (paid) solutions like Glide, I find it awkward to ask my clients to create an Airtable account. Fillout forms have a generous free tier and deep Airtable integration including update record-forms. Using those would be easier than Airtable's native forms.

i hope they make this better as time goes, would love to just use sheets instead of airtable and sheets and zapier etc etc

Dan I see you have reviewed a number of data handling/reporting tools. I'm looking for a tool that will allow a customized report containing graphics that are specific to the data on the report. Kind of like a mail merge but with custom graphics on each report. MS Word will do it, but it's flaky and difficult for the user to handle when the slightest change is needed. Knack won't do it. Monday, JotForm, OpenForm, Cognito, Smart Suite, ClickUp, FreshBooks, SmartSheet, and MachForm have all failed me. Any suggestions?

I have team plan in Airtable, dont have admin panel, just only Account settings... Admin panel is only in Business and Enterprise plan.

But softr doesnt handle linked records and automatically create linked record forms within the record display, without manually creating every . . single . . field . . ?Weeks of work for what something as basic as MiniExtensions just has ready in a click?

Do you know how to get the xano host name etc. to use with their free version? I cannot tell if it is the intention to have it only be for paid users or their documentation is not good...

Softr, starts nice BUT once you get past the very easy setup and create app phase, is really clunky, especially when you add forms and nested related/linked items. It simply doesnt support linked records. You know, that one thing you love in Airtable? yep, you need to individually make that work . . then create it . . . .cell . . by . . . cell . . . Every single field needs to be hand linked, I know if it heavily marketed by affiliates and agencies, but there is a tonne of work needed to hand craft every single freakin field. Every font is tiny and needs editing, it doesnt learn your field structures and dependancies that are already linked in airtable. It is a lot of work by comparison to other simpler tools.

This still has some bugs, for example added 50000 lines to the worksheet when i wanted to convert a table into this new format. I suggest wait and see before anyone uses this for a serious project.

Hi Dan. Is it possible to add an action to the individual components in a row rather than to the entire row? For example, in the first row, if I wanted that when a user clicks on the plan e.g. Standard, they are taken to a new page that has a query that shows all the users or details on the Standard plan.

It's interesting, still don't understand why Google don't offer and app like airtable and notion. A place you can have a form view to edit data, sometimes in a spreadsheet is no fun

Thank you for your video. Do you think Softr could handle taking attendance for a group of people over a period of time? Unlike a school environment where a list of students remains mostly static, I'm thinking about a list of people that will change from day to day with more people being added (or deleted) throughout the week. I'd appreciate any advice you have on how to approach such a task.
